Juan Antonio Presas Villalba was born in Barcelona in 1963. He graduated in Fine Art from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 1986 and in 2012 he obtained a doctoral degree in Fine Arts with a thesis entitled “The painting as Narcissus. Echoes of the Renaissance and the Baroque in the painting inside a painting.”
From an early age Juan Antonio’s family encouraged him to experiment artistically and since then he has developed an inimitable style that is both technically and intellectually outstanding.
The unity between his passion for the artistic language and his technical virtuosity is reflected in his profound work of art. Juan Antonio’s collection has been produced during three decades of devoted work.
Presas’ clear humanistic vision permeates the themes and characters he chooses and it even underpinnes his approach to the actual representation of reality in canvas.
Admirer of the great masters, specially Durero and the Dutch school, his work not only encounters the best European and Spanish artist tradition, but it also enriches it with new perspectives and approaches. He can therefore be counted in the fine line of artists who, from the very beginning of human history, has consecrated uniquely to the perfect depiction of the most beautiful.
Juan Antonio Presas work of art can be found in Spanish public institutions and Spanish, North American and Japanese private collections.
